An answer from one of our fans:
Fill up the cart exclusively in the produce aisle. Pretend the rest of the store doesn’t exist. Use the front of the cart for the final touches: meats, condiments, salsa, feta cheese.
Load up on:
- potatoes
- celery
- tomatoes
- eggplant
- zucchini
- onions/shallots
These items can be used in place of many typical ingredients, or can get a meal going.
Examples of substitutes:
Spaghetti = zucchini or eggplant
Lasagna = eggplant
